Describe what you have Heard
John Robinson was a man who had a dream to being a succesful Merchant. L. R. Allen interviewed this man on January 23, 1940. He worked most of his life working for many Grocerys stores. He made a decent living doing what he was doing. At one point he was making 100$ a month. As he progessed in the business he and his long time partner made there own business Robinson and Johnson.
They prospered for many years. Johnson left Robinson Head of the Finacal part. He realsed this statement "I had complete confidence in Johnson and left all of the financial part of the business to him. It took three years for me to realize what a terrible mistake I had made for, when I did examine our affairs the firm had become heavily involved." They sold the bussiness to another firm. This left John without a job. Then the Depression hit. John lost his home, this left him homeless. He got small jobs and mnay little money, howver he just saved enough to by a small apartment.
This is a small shack, where people like John would live if they lost there due home to the great depression.
What are my impressions?
I think John was a very hard working man that got cought up in the bad time of the economy. I think that his bussiness would have been more succesful if the Depression didnt come so fast. If i was the intervewing i would have asked more about the depression and what was it like on the streets for other fmailys like his. Also, I think John should have tried to presue his dream of being a merchant much eariler. He could have been in a better situation.
